FORECLOSURE FILINGS CLIMB IN APRIL

NODS Increase 43%

EUGENE, Ore. – Foreclosures filings continue to be on the rise, as April marked the fourth consecutive month filings increased in the 20 Oregon counties tracked by Gorilla Capital. Overall, foreclosure filings increased by 21 percent to 650 in April compared to 580 the previous month.

“The number of houses going on foreclosure rolls will continue to increase over the next quarter at least,” said John Helmick, CEO of Gorilla Capital. “As more borrowers complete the state-legislated mediation process and receive the certificate of mediation compliance, more houses that were headed for foreclosure late last year will make it to sale over the next several months, including many vacant and abandoned ‘Zombie’ homes that will finally be sold to families who will bring life back to these neighborhood eye sores.”

There were 518 court foreclosures filed in April compared to 488 in March, an increase of 21 percent. There were 296 court foreclosures filed in February and 286 in January. Non-judicial (NOD) filings increased 43 percent, tallying 132 from 92 in April, 99 in February and 87 in January.
