OREGON FORECLOSURES INCREASE IN JUNE

Wednesday, July 10, 2013

EUGENE, OR — Notice of default for notice and sale foreclosures (NOD) dropped by 26 % in June, but court foreclosures increased by 19% in the 20 Oregon counties tracked by Gorilla Capital.

June NOD filings reached 104 after 140 were filed in May. In April, there were 99 NODs filings; March 103; February 95; and January 104. For the first six months of 2013, 645 NODS have been filed in Gorilla Oregon counties.

Filings for court foreclosures (a.k.a. judicial foreclosures) were 1,422 as compared to 1,194 in May; 1, 266 in April; 1,014 in March; 1,282 in February; and 766 in January. A total of 6,677 court foreclosures have been filed in 2013 to date.

“NOD filings have been fairly consistent five of the first six months of the year, while court foreclosure have fluctuated by 100 or more filings per month,” said John Helmick, CEO of Gorilla Capital. “As we start the last six months of 2013, foreclosures filing should stay steady, maybe even increase toward the end of the year, as lenders and the courts continue working through a back log of filings.”
